"It was Dell'Acqua's third runway collection for Rochas today, but the brand is celebrating its 90th birthday in 2015. Rochas' modern-day revival began in the early aughts. For the Instagram generation, that qualifies as ancient history. Dell'Acqua has been around a bit longer, and armed with a fair bit of appreciation for fashion history, he opted for the way, way back. On each seat was a black-and-white 1934 photograph of a young woman in a Rochas evening ensemble, covered neckline to hem in graphic brig motif. The birds were re-imagined on the runway as a print on black-and-white sheer silk dresses, belted snugly at the waist, and as a black velvet embroidery on an icy blue coat worn over a dress in the same fabric. Sleeveless midi dresses with wide, waist-cinching belts came in supple double-face check or a speckled tweed. The piecrust ruffles lining that bodices of strappy cocktail numbers struck a slightly more retro note, but their ultra feminine vibes will find fans anyhow." -style.com
