Dolce & Gabbana Fall 2014 #MFW

"It's hard not to wonder if Dolce & Gabbana did a little bit of reading up on their classic fairy tales before starting to work on Fall 2014. The collection was full of the regulars you come to expect in the tales, from blooming roses and enchanted keys to friendly forest creatures and even literal red hoods. Heck, the set even featured a gloomy ancient tree that looked like it was transported straight from an enchanted forest. Cutesy stuff aside, there were sexy off-the-shoulder gowns cinched by corsets that we can imagine Katy Perry (or a damsel in distress) slipping into. The house's love for luxury wasn't muted, either, with beaded dresses and coats fit for the royals so commonly met in classic tables. And the modern working woman? She'll be happy, too, with tailored pants, jackets, and dresses that'd work better in the corporate world than the castle. Scroll through for all that and the jewel-encrusted finale army that we've come to expect from the designing duo." fabsugar.com

Marni Fall 2014 #MFW

"Protectuon is a word that has become quite the refrain during Milan, and nowhere more so than at Marni, where Consuelo Castiglioni took all the ways that we might cocoon ourselves from the outside world - from the quilts on our beds to the neoprene worn while engaging in extreme sports - and turned them into a strong and compelling collection. This was one of those more radical, experimental Marni moments that brought together all sorts of oppositional forces - the elegant versus the utilitarian, the natural versus the synthetic, the arts and crafts versus the industrial. You could ask just how wearable all of this was in its present state, but then clearly the point here wasn't to replicate an entire runway look, but to break it down and assimilate what was on offer. Some of it was pretty extreme (and that's pretty in both senses of the word, just so you know), but in a relatively safe and sedate Milan season, it was wonderful to see Castiglioni take a few risks, make a few big (quite literally) gestures." - vogue.com
