"Volume, cinched waists, religious dress, Elizabethan and S&M references — all signatures of Sarah Burton's work at Alexander McQueen — were alive and well in the designer's concise 10 piece Fall 2013 collection. The details in each one of the intricate pieces was astounding — down to the pearl-studded cropped gloves and shoes, all of which were Marie Antoinette-worthy in their opulence and detail. More couture than anything conventionally considered ready-to-wear, the collection was filled with lace skirts, plush ostrich feathers, box-pleated crinoline, bountiful pearl embellishments and Elizabethan silhouettes. It's hard to imagine where exactly these pieces fit in on a retail floor, but one would imagine there will be serious editing down and that the runway looks will at some point end up in a museum where they truly belong." - thefashionspot.com
