"On the clothes: Stacey Bendet was inspired by a trip to Italy she took with her friend Lola Schnabel. At the time, Schnabel had been painting tarot cards for an art project, and Bendet became fascinated. "I kept thinking about how tarot cards are really about the power of interpretation, and so is clothing," she said. She decided to combine the mysticism of the tarot with the romance of Italy, particularly the Gardens of Bomarzo, to create "a fairy tale." That translated to flirty frocks and romantic gowns embroidered with garden scenes, as well as flowy dresses with blouson sleeves. Elsewhere Bendet explored other territory, sometimes at the expense of cohesion, though these were strong looks, they [sometimes] felt out of place. But the Alice + Olivia customer isn't necessarily paying attention to a theme - and if there's one thing Bendet knows, it's what her customer wants. Case in point: The designer cleverly included a handful of buy-now items, which can be embroidered with custom phrases." - vogue.com
