Emporio Armani Fall 2013 - MFW

"It was, somewhat mystifyingly, called Kajal. Otherwise known as kohl, kajal is a pigment that's been used to color cosmetics for centuries. So that probably explained a palette that ranged from creamy pinks to smoky blues. Compatible with the Armani we know, true. There were also vestiges of that designer in the soft tailoring of a jacket, or the mannish sweep of a coat. But what really shaped this collection was Armani's longtime passion for Japan, here utilized in its more avant-garde extremes. If you've ever wondered what it would be like to see Giorgio Armani cross-pollinated with Rei Kawakubo, look no further than Emporio's two-dimensional bonded velvets. Marni Fall 2013 - MFW

"So poetic. So beautiful. So melancholic- yet there was a great positivity in the collection. Quite nostalgic too. The show set had a forest like backdrop creating the atmosphere and mood of the collection. It was quite austere and romantic yet encapsulating as well. Monochrome yet again with little hints of colour. The collection had lots of contradictions as well, it was very tough yet very sweet, melancholic yet it had slight elements of positivity, romantic yet powerful. Lots of juxtapositions but still the show was cohesive. The pieces were minimalistic as always. This season it was more clean and slightly more cheerful. There was a depth structure of textures, such as those wools underneath furs and then those furs underneath detailed furs. It was very luxurious and geometric. There were lots of furs, this collection it being a more texture play than architectural play from last season. It was quite elegant and feminine. There was also a lot of new proportions such as the short shorts, mid-length hems, bigger shoulders with cinched waists. Quite nice to see this at Marni." - artloveallister.com

Emilio Pucci Fall 2013 - MFW

"Peter Dundas's Emilio Pucci girl is always sexy, but this season, the designer kicked it up a notch. Minidresses and thigh-high boots (not to mention the models' Penelope Tree bangs) felt coquettishly '60s, while lace insets, keyhole cutouts, and sheer panels delivered plenty of peekaboo appeal. But these weren't just clothes meant for dance parties and evening soirees: there were also plenty of everyday pieces, too. Jil Sander Fall 2013 - MFW

"With Jil Sander now back at the helm of her namesake label, the label is back to being the poster child for the structure and minimalism the designer pioneered when she first founded her brand. Done in a mix of solids and plaids, the season was rife with seasonless investment pieces boasting sculpted silhouettes and plays with volume. Sander masterfully worked proportions giving visual interested to even the most minimal looks, all of which made for an effortless collection with high retail appeal." - thefashionspot.com

Roberto Cavalli Fall 2013 - MFW

"Excess is my success," quoth Roberto Cavalli on the brink of his Fall presentation, and never was a truer word spoken in anticipation of a show that spun sinuous coils around a scenario of old-school decadence. It was heavy, leaden almost, in its attachment to the notion of an opiated, smoky-eyed seductress luring hapless males to sexual oblivion, but for all of that, it had a heady momentum." - style.com

Bottega Veneta Fall 2013 - MFW

"At first sight of Tomas Maier’s fall collection, one might wonder whether the designer had fallen under the spell of the noir moodiness and romance that’s captivated some of his peers this season. But in a way, he was there first. His last two collections have been brilliant examples of how to translate thirties and forties influences into a modern wardrobe. Still, even though the opening look was Raquel Zimmermann with a flattened, frizzy coif and wearing a nipped-waist silhouette with leather gloves and heeled lace-up oxfords, this wasn’t about retro.
